Skill Development Department Hosts Rozgar Mela cum CXO Meet 2025 Driving Job Creation in the State.

Skill Development Department Hosts Rozgar Mela cum CXO Meet 2025 Driving Job Creation in the State.

In a major push towards employment generation and skill development, a Rozgar Mela cum CXO Meet 2025 was successfully organized by Skill Development Department (SDD) through State Institute of Capacity Building during the State-level Maghey Sankranti Mela at Jorethang w.e.f. 14th to 15th January 2025. The event, a key initiative under Sikkim INSPIRES, aimed at facilitating enhanced employment opportunities for women and youth in non-farm sectors. In line with the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s vision to empowering the youth and ensuring the welfare of citizens, the two-day event witnessed the participation of 27 recruiting companies from both within and outside the State. These companies represented diverse industries, including tourism and hospitality, pharmaceuticals, IT, healthcare, and placement organizations. As a highlight of the event, the CXO Meet brought together seven multinational companies—SAS, Fronius, Schneider, ABB, Dhaksha, Ambe International, and Autodesk—to discuss long-term collaborations for future-ready skills. The ensuing deliberations primarily focused on skill development for women and youth, particularly in emerging fields such as digital marketing, IT, renewable energy, drone technology, and tourism.

They have agreed to partner with the SDD and take the initiative to the next level. The CXO Meet has also addressed key concerns, including bridging the skills gap, aligning training with industry demands, and enhancing practical learning through internships and job placements. The event emphasized the need for a strong collaborative ecosystem among the government, private sector, and training institutions to ensure the sustainability and scalability of skill development initiatives in Sikkim. One of the major innovations at the Rozgar Mela was the introduction of a QR code-based registration module by the Skill Development Department. This initiative streamlined the outreach process, making it more accessible, efficient, and seamless for prospective trainees and job seekers. Through this system, a total of 8,426 job vacancies were also listed by the participating companies, which saw training and job seekers register online, through QR Code, taking the outreach figure to an impressive 1494. Further, 638 candidates from diverse educational backgrounds including 8th passed, ITI passed, Nursing, B. Tech, MBA, and M. Tech walked into the venue and sat for direct interviews. The total selected and shortlisted candidates was 217 candidates at the end of the event. Another milestone was achieved during the State-level Maghey Sankranti Mela as the Hon’ble Chief Minister felicitated 13 Sikkimese nurses for their international career in Germany’s healthcare sector.

They have undergone language training at N.able Institute in Kochi and their placement has been overseen by Bilingual Vitae, a Gangtok-based Company in partnership with Ideal Job Space, the German counterparts. This pilot project is a joint effort of Skill Development Department, Commerce & Industries Department and Planning & Development Department. The Rozgar Mela cum CXO Meet 2025 stands as a testament to Sikkim’s commitment to workforce development and employment generation, paving the way for a skilled and job-ready future for its youth.
