About the event
  1. Swarna Jayanti Maitreya Manjri is born out from the ‘Mitra Labh’ philosophy of the Panchatantra and the Jataka Tales of the Buddha and is the most befitting offering of the state govt. marking ‘fifty golden years’ of statehood.

This project marks a significant push of the state govt prioritizing ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’ and ‘Life on Land’ also as stated in Sustainable Development Goal no 03 and 15. Also as stated by Prime Minister in COP26 this project also reinforces the idea of ‘Lifestyle for Environment with the overall soul of ‘harmony and Mitra Labh’.  The project will feature a large public open area of 20,000sqft which will be a free for all access social area. Offering undisturbed views of the mighty Kanchendzonga the world’s third highest mountain this open plaza and park will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities in various ways.

At the heart of the plaza will be a 24ft tall friendship monument inspired from the ‘Mirta Labh’ philosophy of Panchatantra. In the tale the harmony between the ‘four harmomous friends’ has been narrated in the form of a popular painting represented by four characters namely a bird atop a rabbit who is atop a monkey sitting over an elephant all in perfect harmony and balance Infront of a tree all enjoying the fruits from it. Thus the benefit of having friends or ‘Mitra Labh’.Sikkim and Govt of India stand to benefit having each other as friends and this ‘Mitra labh’ will bear fruits for the future of Sikkim.

Also across the axis will be Golden jubilee gate with Ashok Stumb at its centre all open to public and in the realm of public display.

The crowning glory in the project will be a world class state of the art Orchid Experience Centre where we will celebrate and establish Sikkim as the orchid capital of the world. A large 10,000 sqft experience centre shall take visitors through a journey of Orchids from its evolution to variety to quality till display. As the visitor is taught and exposed to the world of orchids the visual galleries then lead to a large glass house displaying live orchid variety from all over the world with special focus on native Sikkimese variety. Over 600 plus variety is scheduled to be on display covering an area of 16000sqft live experience in natural surroundings in a Glass Cool House.

This project shall seek to be the crowning glory of Sikkim and will be the pride of Gangtokians.A befitting homage to the ‘Fifty Golden Years’ of statehood and also a testimony to the ‘Mitra Labh’ philosophy of Panchatantra and for the benefits of having a stable peaceful friend like Sikkim and a strong supporting elder like India.
